The Gita · Chapter 11

Bhagavad Gita 11.49

मा ते व्यथा मा च विमूढभावो दृष्ट्वा रूपं घोरमीदृङ्ममेदम्। व्यपेतभीः प्रीतमनाः पुनस्त्वं तदेव मे रूपमिदं प्रपश्य॥

mā te vyathā mā cha vimūḍha-bhāvo dṛiṣhṭvā rūpaṁ ghoram īdṛiṅ mamedam vyapeta-bhīḥ prīta-manāḥ punas tvaṁ tad eva me rūpam idaṁ prapaśhya

Translation

Be not bewildered, be thou not afraid, Because thou hast beheld this awful Form; Cast fear away, and let thy heart rejoice; Behold again Mine own familiar shape.

What it means

Do not be bewildered or afraid at seeing this terrible form; free from fear, with a gladdened heart, behold again My former shape. The Lord consents to be loved in a smaller form. Compassion adjusts the revelation to the receiver.

Try this today

The immediate mercy: the command to stop fearing, and the form changed back.

Something to reflect on

Can I let a source adjust its size to what I can hold today?
