The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.12

अनिष्टमिष्टं मिश्रं च त्रिविधं कर्मणः फलम्।भवत्यत्यागिनां प्रेत्य न तु संन्यासिनां क्वचित्॥

aniṣhṭam iṣhṭaṁ miśhraṁ cha tri-vidhaṁ karmaṇaḥ phalam bhavaty atyāgināṁ pretya na tu sannyāsināṁ kvachit

Translation

Good, evil and mixed—threefold is the fruit of action hereafter for the non-relinquisher; but there is none ever for the renouncer.

What it means

Good, evil and mixed: threefold is the fruit of action after death for the non-relinquisher, but none ever for the renouncer. Clinging schedules a future; releasing cancels it. The account closes when the claim is dropped.

Try this today

The ledger applies only to those still holding claims; the fruitless worker has no balance due.

Something to reflect on

If clinging schedules a future, what future am I booking right now?
