Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.48

सहजं कर्म कौन्तेय सदोषमपि न त्यजेत्।सर्वारम्भा हि दोषेण धूमेनाग्निरिवावृताः॥

saha-jaṁ karma kaunteya sa-doṣham api na tyajet sarvārambhā hi doṣheṇa dhūmenāgnir ivāvṛitāḥ

Translation

Congenital duty, O son of Kunti, though defective, ought not to be abandoned. All undertakings indeed are clouded by defects as fire by smoke.

What it means

One should not abandon the work one is born to, even if defective, for all undertakings are covered by fault, as fire by smoke. No clean option exists; every fire smokes. The choice is never between flawed and flawless work, only between yours and not yours.

Try this today

The smoke-and-fire principle: every path has costs built in; switching paths never removes the smoke.

Something to reflect on

Am I leaving my path because it is wrong, or because it has smoke like all of them?
