Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.33

अथ चैत्त्वमिमं धर्म्यं संग्रामं न करिष्यसि। ततः स्वधर्मं कीर्तिं च हित्वा पापमवाप्स्यसि॥

atha chet tvam imaṁ dharmyaṁ saṅgrāmaṁ na kariṣhyasi tataḥ sva-dharmaṁ kīrtiṁ cha hitvā pāpam avāpsyasi

Translation

But if thou wilt not carry on this righteous warfare, then casting away thine own duty and thine honour, thou wilt incur sin.

What it means

Refusing this righteous fight, Arjuna would abandon both duty and honor and incur fault. Avoidance has a cost. Fleeing a duty does not remove it; it adds the weight of failure to carry it later.

Try this today

Refusing a known duty is not neutral; it is a choice with a cost - here called sin (a fault against one's own nature).

Something to reflect on

What is my avoidance of this duty already costing me?
