Bhagavad Gita 2.67
इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोऽनुविधीयते। तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि॥
indriyāṇāṁ hi charatāṁ yan mano ’nuvidhīyate tadasya harati prajñāṁ vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi
Translation
Such of the roving senses as the mind yieldeth to, that hurries away the understanding, just as the gale hurries away a ship upon the waters.
What it means
When the mind follows a wandering sense, it carries away understanding like wind a ship on water. Attention is the rudder. Whoever gives it away has handed the vessel to the weather.
Try this today
The ship image: attention handed to the senses is a vessel handed to the storm.
Something to reflect on
Where did my attention go today, and what went with it?
