Translation
My heart is weighed down with the vice of faintness; my mind is confused as to duty. I ask thee which may be the better—that tell me decisively. I am thy disciple, suppliant to Thee; teach me.
What it means
"My mind is confused as to duty; I am thy disciple; teach me." Here the Gita's real beginning: a proud warrior formally surrenders his certainty and asks to be taught. Guidance becomes possible exactly at the point of admitted confusion.
Try this today
The turning point of the whole Gita: Arjuna stops arguing and asks to be taught. Admitting confusion and asking for teaching is strength, not defeat.
Something to reflect on
Where in my life should I stop defending my position and become a student?
