Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 3

Bhagavad Gita 3.33

सदृशं चेष्टते स्वस्याः प्रकृतेर्ज्ञानवानपि। प्रकृतिं यान्ति भूतानि निग्रहः किं करिष्यति॥

sadṛiśhaṁ cheṣhṭate svasyāḥ prakṛiter jñānavān api prakṛitiṁ yānti bhūtāni nigrahaḥ kiṁ kariṣhyati

Translation

Even the man of knowledge behaves in conformity with his own nature; beings follow nature; what shall restraint avail?

What it means

Even the wise act according to their nature; all beings follow nature; what can repression achieve? Krishna is realistic about temperament. Change works with nature, not by declaring war on it.

Try this today

A humbling note: willpower fights nature at a disadvantage. Change works with disposition, not against it.

Something to reflect on

Where am I fighting my nature instead of working with it?
