Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 5

Bhagavad Gita 5.14

न कर्तृत्वं न कर्माणि लोकस्य सृजति प्रभुः। न कर्मफलसंयोगं स्वभावस्तु प्रवर्तते॥

na kartṛitvaṁ na karmāṇi lokasya sṛijati prabhuḥ na karma-phala-saṅyogaṁ svabhāvas tu pravartate

Translation

The Lord of the world produceth not the idea of agency, nor actions, nor the union together of action and its fruit; nature, however, manifesteth.

What it means

The Lord creates neither agency, nor actions, nor the linking of action to fruit; nature carries these on. Responsibility belongs to the machinery of nature, not to the Divine or the deepest Self. This severs fatalism at its root.

Try this today

No cosmic micromanager: the machinery of cause and effect runs on nature, not on favors.

Something to reflect on

Where do I blame a cosmic manager for what is plain cause and effect?
