Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 6

Bhagavad Gita 6.25

शनैः शनैरुपरमेद् बुद्ध्या धृतिगृहीतया। आत्मसंस्थं मनः कृत्वा न किञ्चिदपि चिन्तयेत्॥

śhanaiḥ śhanair uparamed buddhyā dhṛiti-gṛihītayā ātma-sansthaṁ manaḥ kṛitvā na kiñchid api chintayet

Translation

Little by little let him gain tranquillity, by means of Reason controlled by steadiness; having made the mind abide in the Self, let him not think of anything.

What it means

Little by little, with steady resolve, let one come to rest; fixing the mind in the Self, let one think of nothing at all. The pace is honest: gradually. Settling the mind is a skill of patient increments.

Try this today

The pace instruction: gradual, not forced. Quiet comes by degrees to the steady.

Something to reflect on

Am I willing to become calm gradually rather than dramatically?
