The Gita · Chapter 10

Bhagavad Gita 10.24

पुरोधसां च मुख्यं मां विद्धि पार्थ बृहस्पतिम्। सेनानीनामहं स्कन्दः सरसामस्मि सागरः॥

purodhasāṁ cha mukhyaṁ māṁ viddhi pārtha bṛihaspatim senānīnām ahaṁ skandaḥ sarasām asmi sāgaraḥ

Translation

And know Me, O Pârtha, of household priests the chief, Brihaspati: of generals I am Skanda; of lakes I am the ocean.

What it means

Among priests, know Me as Brihaspati, the chief; among commanders, Skanda; among bodies of water, the ocean. Guidance, valor and depth each have their superlative. Every excellence is a theophany in miniature.

Try this today

Counsel, command and depth: the finest priest, general and lake.

Something to reflect on

Who is the finest guide, leader or depth I know - and what makes them so?
