The Gita · Chapter 10

Bhagavad Gita 10.25

महर्षीणां भृगुरहं गिरामस्म्येकमक्षरम्। यज्ञानां जपयज्ञोऽस्मि स्थावराणां हिमालयः॥

maharṣhīṇāṁ bhṛigur ahaṁ girām asmyekam akṣharam yajñānāṁ japa-yajño ’smi sthāvarāṇāṁ himālayaḥ

Translation

Of the great Rishis Bhṛigu; of speech I am the one syllable; of sacrifices I am the sacrifice of silent repetitions; of immovable things the Himâlaya.

What it means

Among the great sages, Bhrigu; among utterances, the one syllable Aum; among sacrifices, the silent repetition of the name; among immovable things, the Himalaya. The quietest worship is ranked highest. Stillness outweighs spectacle.

Try this today

Notably: the sacrifice named here is not ceremony but silent repetition - the quietest practice crowned.

Something to reflect on

What is the quietest practice available to me - and why do I overlook it?
