The Gita · Chapter 10

Bhagavad Gita 10.30

प्रह्लादश्चास्मि दैत्यानां कालः कलयतामहम्। मृगाणां च मृगेन्द्रोऽहं वैनतेयश्च पक्षिणाम्॥

prahlādaśh chāsmi daityānāṁ kālaḥ kalayatām aham mṛigāṇāṁ cha mṛigendro ’haṁ vainateyaśh cha pakṣhiṇām

Translation

And I am Prahlâda of Daityas; of calculators Time am I; and of wild beasts I the imperial beast; and Vainateya of birds.

What it means

Among the Daityas, Prahlada; among measurers, I am Time; among beasts, the lion; among birds, Garuda. Devotion, inevitability and majesty each take a form. Time is the most sobering entry: the measuring power itself.

Try this today

Devotion in an unlikely house, time the reckoner, the king of beasts and birds.

Something to reflect on

Which inevitability in my life, like time, quietly measures everything?
