The Gita · Chapter 10

Bhagavad Gita 10.38

दण्डो दमयतामस्मि नीतिरस्मि जिगीषताम्। मौनं चैवास्मि गुह्यानां ज्ञानं ज्ञानवतामहम्॥

daṇḍo damayatām asmi nītir asmi jigīṣhatām maunaṁ chaivāsmi guhyānāṁ jñānaṁ jñānavatām aham

Translation

Of rulers I am the sceptre; of those that seek victory I am statesmanship; and of secrets I am also silence; the knowledge of knowers am I.

What it means

Among punishers I am the scepter; among seekers of victory, statesmanship; among secrets, silence; among knowers, knowledge. Power, policy, secrecy and wisdom are each reduced to essence. The best of every human art is a reflection.

Try this today

Power's instrument, strategy's art, secrecy's essence, the knower's core.

Something to reflect on

What is the essence of my best skill, beneath the technique?
