Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 11

Bhagavad Gita 11.12

दिवि सूर्यसहस्रस्य भवेद्युगपदुत्थिता। यदि भाः सदृशी सा स्याद्भासस्तस्य महात्मनः॥

divi sūrya-sahasrasya bhaved yugapad utthitā yadi bhāḥ sadṛiśhī sā syād bhāsas tasya mahātmanaḥ

Translation

If the splendour of a thousand suns were to blaze out together in the sky, that might resemble the glory of that Mahâtman.

What it means

If a thousand suns blazed forth at once in the sky, that might approach the splendor of that great Self. Cosmic light is the only available unit of comparison.

Try this today

A thousand suns at once: the nearest available comparison for an incomparable splendor.

Something to reflect on

What unit of comparison do I have for the greatest thing I have met?
