The Gita · Chapter 11

Bhagavad Gita 11.18

त्वमक्षरं परमं वेदितव्यं त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम्। त्वमव्ययः शाश्वतधर्मगोप्ता सनातनस्त्वं पुरुषो मतो मे॥

tvam akṣharaṁ paramaṁ veditavyaṁ tvam asya viśhvasya paraṁ nidhānam tvam avyayaḥ śhāśhvata-dharma-goptā sanātanas tvaṁ puruṣho mato me

Translation

Lofty beyond all thought, unperishing, Thou treasure-house supreme, all-immanent; Eternal Dharma's changeless Guardian, Thou; As immemorial Man I think of Thee.

What it means

You are the imperishable, the supreme object of knowledge, the supreme treasure-house, the changeless guardian of eternal law; I know You as the primal Person. Amid the blaze, Arjuna names functions: keeper of truth, of law, of origin.

Try this today

Arjuna's theology in one line: what cannot be thought can still be recognized.

Something to reflect on

What do I recognize as guardian of what is right, even beyond my understanding?
