The Gita · Chapter 12

Bhagavad Gita 12.5

क्लेशोऽधिकतरस्तेषामव्यक्तासक्तचेतसाम्। अव्यक्ता हि गतिर्दुःखं देहवद्भिरवाप्यते॥

kleśho ’dhikataras teṣhām avyaktāsakta-chetasām avyaktā hi gatir duḥkhaṁ dehavadbhir avāpyate

Translation

The difficulty of those whose minds are set on the Unmanifested is greater; for the path of the Unmanifested is hard for the embodied to reach.

What it means

The difficulty is greater for those whose minds are set on the unmanifest; the unmanifest goal is hard for the embodied to reach. Krishna states the practical objection plainly. Bodies love what has a face.

Try this today

The practical caveat: abstraction costs the embodied more. Loving a form is easier than loving an attribute-less absolute.

Something to reflect on

Do I practice best through relationship or through abstraction?
