The Gita · Chapter 13

Bhagavad Gita 13.2

क्षेत्रज्ञं चापि मां विद्धि सर्वक्षेत्रेषु भारत। क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञयोर्ज्ञानं यत्तज्ज्ञानं मतं मम॥

kṣhetra-jñaṁ chāpi māṁ viddhi sarva-kṣhetreṣhu bhārata kṣhetra-kṣhetrajñayor jñānaṁ yat taj jñānaṁ mataṁ mama

Translation

Understand Me as the Knower of the Field in all Fields, O Bhârata. Wisdom as to the Field and the Knower of the Field, that in My opinion is the wisdom.

What it means

Know Me as the knower of the field in all fields; the knowledge of field and field-knower is the true knowledge. Sastri (Advaita): the one knower in every body is really the Supreme Lord, appearing individual only through avidya; one tradition's reading, not cross-tradition verified.

Try this today

One knower, many fields: the same awareness behind every body. And knowing this pair is defined as knowledge itself.

Something to reflect on

When have I felt the same awareness looking out of someone else's eyes?
