The Gita · Chapter 13

Bhagavad Gita 13.6

इच्छा द्वेषः सुखं दुःखं सङ्घातश्चेतनाधृतिः।एतत्क्षेत्रं समासेन सविकारमुदाहृतम्॥

ichchhā dveṣhaḥ sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ saṅghātaśh chetanā dhṛitiḥ etat kṣhetraṁ samāsena sa-vikāram udāhṛitam

Translation

Desire, aversion, pleasure, pain, combination, intelligence, firmness; these, briefly described, constitute the Field and its modifications.

What it means

Desire, aversion, pleasure, pain, the aggregate, intelligence and firmness: this is the field briefly described with its modifications. Even our feelings are listed as field, not knower. What can be observed is not the observer.

Try this today

Even emotions and resolve belong to the field - they are contents, not the knower.

Something to reflect on

Can I watch my own desire and pain as contents rather than as me?
