The Gita · Chapter 13

Bhagavad Gita 13.5

महाभूतान्यहङ्कारो बुद्धिरव्यक्तमेव च।इन्द्रियाणि दशैकं च पञ्च चेन्द्रियगोचराः॥

mahā-bhūtāny ahankāro buddhir avyaktam eva cha indriyāṇi daśhaikaṁ cha pañcha chendriya-gocharāḥ

Translation

The great Elements, Individuality, Reason, and also the unmanifested, the ten senses and the one, and the five pastures of the senses;

What it means

The great elements, egoism, intellect, the unmanifest, the ten senses and the mind, and the five sense-objects: the inventory of the field begins. Everything we call "myself" at first glance turns out to be equipment.

Try this today

The field's inventory begins: matter, ego, intellect, the unmanifest, the eleven faculties, the five sense-objects.

Something to reflect on

What part of what I call 'myself' is actually equipment?
