The Gita · Chapter 14

Bhagavad Gita 14.25

मानापमानयोस्तुल्यस्तुल्यो मित्रारिपक्षयोः।सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी गुणातीतः स उच्यते॥

mānāpamānayos tulyas tulyo mitrāri-pakṣhayoḥ sarvārambha-parityāgī guṇātītaḥ sa uchyate

Translation

The same in honour and ignominy, the same to friend and foe, abandoning all undertakings—he is said to have crossed over the qualities.

What it means

The same in honor and disgrace, the same toward friend and foe, having abandoned all enterprises of self-will: such a one is said to have crossed the gunas. The portrait completes. Transcendence looks like unshakeable fairness.

Try this today

The crossing completed: even initiative itself released.

Something to reflect on

What self-willed enterprise would crossing over require me to abandon?
