The Gita · Chapter 16

Bhagavad Gita 16.10

काममाश्रित्य दुष्पूरं दम्भमानमदान्विताः।मोहाद्गृहीत्वासद्ग्राहान्प्रवर्तन्तेऽशुचिव्रताः॥

kāmam āśhritya duṣhpūraṁ dambha-māna-madānvitāḥ mohād gṛihītvāsad-grāhān pravartante ’śhuchi-vratāḥ

Translation

Surrendering themselves to insatiable desires, possessed with vanity, conceit and arrogance, holding evil ideas through delusion, they engage in action with impure resolves.

What it means

Giving themselves to insatiable desire, full of hypocrisy, pride and arrogance, holding false views through delusion, they act with impure resolve. Hunger without a limit is the engine. Nothing is ever enough, so nothing is ever enough to stop them.

Try this today

The engine: appetite that cannot be filled, driving action that cannot be clean.

Something to reflect on

Which hunger in me has no 'enough'?
