Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 16

Bhagavad Gita 16.11

चिन्तामपरिमेयां च प्रलयान्तामुपाश्रिताः।कामोपभोगपरमा एतावदिति निश्िचताः॥

chintām aparimeyāṁ cha pralayāntām upāśhritāḥ kāmopabhoga-paramā etāvad iti niśhchitāḥ

Translation

Giving themselves over to unmeasured thought whose end is death, regarding the gratification of desires as the highest, feeling sure that this is all,

What it means

Obsessed with endless anxiety that ends only at death, certain that gratification of desire is the highest, convinced that this is all. The creed produces its own misery: infinite wants, one lifetime. Despair is built into the philosophy.

Try this today

Anxiety and indulgence paired: the fret and the feast as one closed system.

Something to reflect on

Do my anxieties and my indulgences feed each other?
