The Gita · Chapter 16

Bhagavad Gita 16.14

असौ मया हतः शत्रुर्हनिष्ये चापरानपि।ईश्वरोऽहमहं भोगी सिद्धोऽहं बलवान्सुखी॥

asau mayā hataḥ śhatrur haniṣhye chāparān api īśhvaro ’ham ahaṁ bhogī siddho ’haṁ balavān sukhī

Translation

"I have slain this enemy, and others also I shall slay. I am the Lord, I am the enjoyer, I am perfect, powerful, happy;

What it means

"I have slain this enemy and I shall slay others; I am the lord, I am the enjoyer, I am perfect, powerful, happy." The monologue escalates into self-deification. When the ego claims the throne, cruelty reads as competence.

Try this today

The monologue escalates: scoreboard thinking about people, coronation of the self.

Something to reflect on

When has my scoreboard thinking about people read as competence?
