The Gita · Chapter 16

Bhagavad Gita 16.13

इदमद्य मया लब्धमिमं प्राप्स्ये मनोरथम्।इदमस्तीदमपि मे भविष्यति पुनर्धनम्॥

idam adya mayā labdham imaṁ prāpsye manoratham idam astīdam api me bhaviṣhyati punar dhanam

Translation

"This to-day by me hath been won, that purpose I shall gain; this wealth is mine already, and also this shall be mine in future.

What it means

"This I have gained today; that desire I shall fulfill; this wealth is mine, and that will be mine too." The inner monologue is quoted verbatim. Possession thinking speaks in a recognizable voice.

Try this today

The inner monologue of acquisition: present tense, future tense, all possessive.

Something to reflect on

What tense does my inner monologue speak in - present gratitude or future possession?
