The Gita · Chapter 16

Bhagavad Gita 16.6

द्वौ भूतसर्गौ लोकेऽस्मिन् दैव आसुर एव च।दैवो विस्तरशः प्रोक्त आसुरं पार्थ मे श्रृणु॥

dvau bhūta-sargau loke ’smin daiva āsura eva cha daivo vistaraśhaḥ prokta āsuraṁ pārtha me śhṛiṇu

Translation

Twofold is the animal creation in this world, the divine and the demoniacal: the divine hath been described at length: hear from Me, O Pârtha, the demoniacal.

What it means

There are two kinds of created beings in this world: the divine and the demonic; the divine has been described; hear now the demonic. A stark anthropology is proposed. The rest of the chapter is a mirror held up for self-diagnosis.

Try this today

Two orientations, not two species: the same human equipment aimed opposite ways.

Something to reflect on

If the same equipment can be aimed either way, what aims mine?
