The Gita · Chapter 16

Bhagavad Gita 16.5

दैवी सम्पद्विमोक्षाय निबन्धायासुरी मता।मा शुचः सम्पदं दैवीमभिजातोऽसि पाण्डव॥

daivī sampad vimokṣhāya nibandhāyāsurī matā mā śhuchaḥ sampadaṁ daivīm abhijāto ’si pāṇḍava

Translation

The divine properties are deemed to be for liberation, the demoniacal for bondage. Grieve not, thou art born with divine properties, O Pândava.

What it means

The divine estate leads to liberation, the demonic to bondage; grieve not, you are born for the divine estate, O Pandava. Krishna applies the map to His listener. Arjuna's despair in chapter 1 is now officially answered: your nature is not your enemy.

Try this today

The verdict plus the reassurance: tendencies have destinations, and Arjuna's are the good kind.

Something to reflect on

Do I believe my tendencies have destinations - and which way are mine pointed?
