The Gita · Chapter 17

Bhagavad Gita 17.2

त्रिविधा भवति श्रद्धा देहिनां सा स्वभावजा।सात्त्विकी राजसी चैव तामसी चेति तां श्रृणु॥

śhrī-bhagavān uvācha tri-vidhā bhavati śhraddhā dehināṁ sā svabhāva-jā sāttvikī rājasī chaiva tāmasī cheti tāṁ śhṛiṇu

Translation

The Blessed Lord said: Threefold is by nature the inborn faith of the embodied—pure, passionate, and dark. Hear thou of these.

What it means

Threefold is the innate faith of the embodied: sattvic, rajasic and tamasic; hear of it. Faith itself has flavors. Even devotion is colored by the guna it passes through.

Try this today

Faith itself is typed by the gunas: even your trust has a texture.

Something to reflect on

What texture does my trust have - clear, grasping or dull?
