Bhagavad Gita 17.24

तस्मादोमित्युदाहृत्य यज्ञदानतपःक्रियाः।प्रवर्तन्ते विधानोक्ताः सततं ब्रह्मवादिनाम्॥

tasmād oṁ ity udāhṛitya yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-kriyāḥ pravartante vidhānoktāḥ satataṁ brahma-vādinām

Translation

Therefore with the pronunciation of " Aum " the acts of sacrifice, gift and austerity as laid down in the ordinances are always commenced by the knowers of the Eternal.

What it means

Therefore the acts of sacrifice, gift and austerity prescribed in scripture always begin with the utterance of Aum by the knowers of the Eternal. Sacred acts open with the sacred name. The word sets the direction of the deed.

Try this today

Aum opens: every act begins by naming the source.

Something to reflect on

How do my best acts begin - what name do they name first?
