The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.18

ज्ञानं ज्ञेयं परिज्ञाता त्रिविधा कर्मचोदना।करणं कर्म कर्तेति त्रिविधः कर्मसंग्रहः॥

jñānaṁ jñeyaṁ parijñātā tri-vidhā karma-chodanā karaṇaṁ karma karteti tri-vidhaḥ karma-saṅgrahaḥ

Translation

Knowledge, the knowable and the knower, the threefold impulse to action; the organ, the action, the actor, the threefold constituents of action.

What it means

Knowledge, the known and the knower are the threefold driver of action; the instrument, the act and the actor are its threefold basis. The anatomy of action is complete. Every deed has a knowing side and a doing side.

Try this today

The complete mechanics: three things push, three things carry.

Something to reflect on

Do I watch both sides of my deeds - the knowing side and the doing side?
