The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.27

रागी कर्मफलप्रेप्सुर्लुब्धो हिंसात्मकोऽशुचिः।हर्षशोकान्वितः कर्ता राजसः परिकीर्तितः॥

rāgī karma-phala-prepsur lubdho hinsātmako ‘śhuchiḥ harṣha-śhokānvitaḥ kartā rājasaḥ parikīrtitaḥ

Translation

Impassioned, desiring to obtain the fruit of actions, greedy, harmful, impure, moved by joy and sorrow, such an actor is pronounced passionate.

What it means

Passionate, desiring the fruits of action, greedy, harmful, impure, moved by elation and sorrow: such an actor is called rajasic. The emotional swing betrays the motive. Riding the result is riding the guna.

Try this today

Rajasic doer: hot, grasping, streaky - mood riding the results.

Something to reflect on

Do my moods ride my results - and who is driving whom?
