The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.29

बुद्धेर्भेदं धृतेश्चैव गुणतस्त्रिविधं श्रृणु।प्रोच्यमानमशेषेण पृथक्त्वेन धनञ्जय॥

buddher bhedaṁ dhṛiteśh chaiva guṇatas tri-vidhaṁ śhṛiṇu prochyamānam aśheṣheṇa pṛithaktvena dhanañjaya

Translation

The division of Reason and of firmness also, threefold according to the qualities, hear thou related, unreservedly and severally, O Dhananjaya.

What it means

Hear now the threefold division of intellect and of firmness, according to the gunas, told fully and separately. Two inner powers remain to be graded: how we discern and how we persist. Both come in three qualities.

Try this today

Next lens: judgment and persistence, each in three grades.

Something to reflect on

Which needs grading first in me - how I discern or how I persist?
