Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.3

त्याज्यं दोषवदित्येके कर्म प्राहुर्मनीषिणः। यज्ञदानतपःकर्म न त्याज्यमिति चापरे॥

tyājyaṁ doṣha-vad ity eke karma prāhur manīṣhiṇaḥ yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-karma na tyājyam iti chāpare

Translation

"Action should be relinquished as an evil," declare some thoughtful men; "acts of sacrifice, gift and austerity should not be relinquished," say others.

What it means

Some thinkers say all action should be abandoned as a fault; others say sacrifice, charity and austerity should never be abandoned. The debate is quoted before it is settled. Krishna will rule between the extremes.

Try this today

The debate aired fairly: quit everything versus keep the sacred minimum.

Something to reflect on

Where do I stand between 'quit everything' and 'never quit the essentials'?
