Bhagavad Gita 18.36

सुखं त्विदानीं त्रिविधं श्रृणु मे भरतर्षभ।अभ्यासाद्रमते यत्र दुःखान्तं च निगच्छति॥

sukhaṃ tvidānīṃ trividhaṃ śrṛṇu me bharatarṣabha abhyāsādramate yatra duḥkhāntaṃ ca nigacchati

Translation

And now the threefold kinds of pleasure hear thou from Me, O bull of the Bhâratas. That in which one by practice rejoiceth, and which putteth an end to pain;

What it means

And now hear from Me the threefold division of pleasure: that in which one rejoices through practice and which brings an end to sorrow. Even happiness is graded. The criterion is not intensity but what the pleasure does over time.

Try this today

The pleasure typology announced - judged by how it ends, not how it starts.

Something to reflect on

Do I judge my pleasures by how they start or how they end?
