The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.54

ब्रह्मभूतः प्रसन्नात्मा न शोचति न काङ्क्षति।समः सर्वेषु भूतेषु मद्भक्तिं लभते पराम्॥

brahma-bhūtaḥ prasannātmā na śhochati na kāṅkṣhati samaḥ sarveṣhu bhūteṣhu mad-bhaktiṁ labhate parām

Translation

Becoming the Eternal, serene in the Self, he neither grieveth nor desireth; the same to all beings, he obtaineth supreme devotion unto Me.

What it means

Having become the Eternal, serene in the Self, one neither grieves nor desires; equal to all beings, one attains supreme devotion to Me. The sequence surprises: devotion crowns knowledge. After equality comes love, greater than before.

Try this today

The transformed state: beyond grief and craving, equal toward all - and devotion arriving as the crown, not the start.

Something to reflect on

Can I imagine equality toward all as a prelude to greater love, not its end?
