The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.55

भक्त्या मामभिजानाति यावान्यश्चास्मि तत्त्वतः।ततो मां तत्त्वतो ज्ञात्वा विशते तदनन्तरम्॥

bhaktyā mām abhijānāti yāvān yaśh chāsmi tattvataḥ tato māṁ tattvato jñātvā viśhate tad-anantaram

Translation

By devotion he knoweth Me in essence, who and what I am; having thus known Me in essence he forthwith entereth into the Supreme.

What it means

By devotion one knows Me in truth, who and how great I am; having known Me in truth, one enters into That forthwith. Love is declared the instrument of ultimate knowledge. Knowing and entering are one movement.

Try this today

The sequence: devotion yields true knowledge, true knowledge yields entry - no gap between knowing and entering.

Something to reflect on

Have I ever known something by loving it that study never taught me?
