The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.61

ईश्वरः सर्वभूतानां हृद्देशेऽर्जुन तिष्ठति।भ्रामयन्सर्वभूतानि यन्त्रारूढानि मायया॥

īśhvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ hṛid-deśhe ‘rjuna tiṣhṭhati bhrāmayan sarva-bhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā

Translation

The Lord dwelleth in the hearts of all beings, O Arjuna, by His illusive Power causing all beings to revolve, as though mounted on a potter's wheel.

What it means

The Lord dwells in the hearts of all beings, whirling all beings as if mounted on a wheel - by Maya, in Sastri's Advaita reading, like wooden dolls on a machine. One tradition's reading of the mechanism, not cross-tradition verified.

Try this today

The machine image: hearts as engines, beings as mounted riders turned by the indwelling power.

Something to reflect on

If my heart is an engine I did not build, who is turning my wheel?
