The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.63

क्रोधाद्भवति संमोहः संमोहात्स्मृतिविभ्रमः। स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति॥

krodhād bhavati sammohaḥ sammohāt smṛiti-vibhramaḥ smṛiti-bhranśhād buddhi-nāśho buddhi-nāśhāt praṇaśhyati

Translation

From anger proceedeth delusion; from delusion confused memory; from confused memory the destruction of Reason; from destruction of Reason he perishes.

What it means

From anger comes delusion, from delusion lost memory, from lost memory the destruction of discernment; with discernment destroyed, one perishes. The sequence completes. Watching the chain early is easier than escaping it late.

Try this today

The chain completes: anger distorts perception, corrupts memory, destroys judgment - and then the person is lost. Watch the first link, not the last.

Something to reflect on

At which link in this chain can I still reliably catch myself?
