The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.70

आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं समुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत्। तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी॥

āpūryamāṇam achala-pratiṣhṭhaṁ samudram āpaḥ praviśhanti yadvat tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśhanti sarve sa śhāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī

Translation

He attaineth Peace, into whom all desires flow as rivers flow into the ocean, which is filled with water, but remaineth unmoved—not he who desireth desires.

What it means

As rivers enter the ever-filled, unmoving ocean, so desires enter the person who attains peace, not the one who chases desires. Desires can arrive without disturbing. Fullness, not emptiness, is the secret.

Try this today

The ocean image: desires may arrive endlessly; depth absorbs them without flooding. Capacity, not scarcity, is peace.

Something to reflect on

What would make me ocean-deep rather than puddle-shallow before demands?
