Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 3

Bhagavad Gita 3.13

यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः। भुञ्जते ते त्वघं पापा ये पचन्त्यात्मकारणात्॥

yajña-śhiṣhṭāśhinaḥ santo muchyante sarva-kilbiṣhaiḥ bhuñjate te tvaghaṁ pāpā ye pachantyātma-kāraṇāt

Translation

The righteous, who eat the remains of the sacrifice, are freed from all sins; but the impious, who dress food for their own sakes, they verily eat sin.

What it means

The good, who eat after sharing, are freed of fault; those who cook only for themselves eat sin. The meal is the moral test: first give, then partake. Gratitude made visible purifies enjoyment.

Try this today

Taking what remains after giving first, versus consuming first and solely for oneself - the order matters.

Something to reflect on

Do I partake before or after I give - and what does that order say?
