Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 3

Bhagavad Gita 3.14

अन्नाद्भवन्ति भूतानि पर्जन्यादन्नसम्भवः। यज्ञाद्भवति पर्जन्यो यज्ञः कर्मसमुद्भवः॥

annād bhavanti bhūtāni parjanyād anna-sambhavaḥ yajñād bhavati parjanyo yajñaḥ karma-samudbhavaḥ

Translation

From food creatures become; from rain is the production of food; rain proceedeth from sacrifice; sacrifice ariseth out of action.

What it means

From food come beings, from rain food, from sacrifice rain, from action sacrifice. The chain links the most spiritual act to the most material need. Heaven and earth are one economy.

Try this today

An interdependence chain linking human work to the fertility of the world itself.

Something to reflect on

Can I trace one thing I use daily back through the chain of hands and weather that made it?
