Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 4

Bhagavad Gita 4.33

श्रेयान्द्रव्यमयाद्यज्ञाज्ज्ञानयज्ञः परन्तप। सर्वं कर्माखिलं पार्थ ज्ञाने परिसमाप्यते॥

śhreyān dravya-mayād yajñāj jñāna-yajñaḥ parantapa sarvaṁ karmākhilaṁ pārtha jñāne parisamāpyate

Translation

Better than the sacrifice of any objects is the sacrifice of wisdom, O Parantapa. All actions in their entirety, O Pârtha, culminate in wisdom.

What it means

The sacrifice of knowledge is superior to the sacrifice of material things; all action, in its entirety, culminates in knowledge. The inner offering outranks the outer. Everything done rightly converges into understanding.

Try this today

The ranking: giving things is good; giving ignorance is better. Understanding is the terminus of all practice.

Something to reflect on

Which of my sacrifices has actually made me wiser?
