The Gita · Chapter 4

Bhagavad Gita 4.34

तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया। उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिनः॥

tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśhnena sevayā upadekṣhyanti te jñānaṁ jñāninas tattva-darśhinaḥ

Translation

Learn thou this by discipleship, by investiga tion, and by service. The wise, the seers of the essence of things, will instruct thee in wisdom.

What it means

Learn this by reverent inquiry, by questioning, and by service; the wise who see the truth will teach you. The method for gaining knowledge is human: find those who see, serve them, ask. Wisdom is transmitted through relationship.

Try this today

How to learn: ask with respect, test with your own inquiry, and serve. The teacher responds to all three together.

Something to reflect on

Which of the three - asking, testing, serving - do I skip?
