Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 4

Bhagavad Gita 4.39

श्रद्धावाँल्लभते ज्ञानं तत्परः संयतेन्द्रियः। ज्ञानं लब्ध्वा परां शान्तिमचिरेणाधिगच्छति॥

śhraddhāvān labhate jñānaṁ tat-paraḥ sanyatendriyaḥ jñānaṁ labdhvā parāṁ śhāntim achireṇādhigachchhati

Translation

The man who is full of faith obtaineth wisdom, and he also who hath mastery over his senses; and, having obtained wisdom, he goeth swiftly to the supreme Peace.

What it means

The person of faith gains knowledge - devoted to it, senses mastered; having gained it, one quickly reaches supreme peace. Three qualifications, not two: faith, devotion to the pursuit, mastery of the senses.

Try this today

Two gates to wisdom: trust and sense-mastery. Either entry leads quickly to peace.

Something to reflect on

Which gate is open for me right now - trust or self-mastery - and am I walking through it?
