Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 5

Bhagavad Gita 5.26

कामक्रोधवियुक्तानां यतीनां यतचेतसाम्। अभितो ब्रह्मनिर्वाणं वर्तते विदितात्मनाम्॥

kāma-krodha-viyuktānāṁ yatīnāṁ yata-chetasām abhito brahma-nirvāṇaṁ vartate viditātmanām

Translation

The Peace of the Eternal lies near to those who know themselves, who are disjoined from desire and passion, subdued in nature, of subdued thoughts.

What it means

Freed from desire and anger, self-controlled, knowing the Self: for such, the peace of the Eternal is near, whichever way they turn. Proximity, not pilgrimage. Freedom is adjacent to a certain kind of mind.

Try this today

Proximity language: peace is not distant or posthumous; it is near to the prepared.

Something to reflect on

If peace were near rather than far, what preparation am I postponing?
