The Gita · Chapter 5

Bhagavad Gita 5.9

प्रलपन्विसृजन्गृह्णन्नुन्मिषन्निमिषन्नपि। इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेषु वर्तन्त इति धारयन्॥

pralapan visṛjan gṛhṇann unmiṣan nimiṣann api indriyāṇīndriyārtheṣu vartanta iti dhārayan

Translation

Speaking, giving, grasping, opening and closing the eyes, he holdeth: "The senses move among the objects of the senses."

What it means

Speaking, giving, grasping, opening and closing the eyes, one holds: the senses move among the sense objects. Life runs on its own machinery. The witness no longer signs its name to every event.

Try this today

The complete inventory: even speech and blinking are machinery in motion. Ownership was the addition.

Something to reflect on

Can I watch even my own speaking as machinery in motion?
