The Gita · Chapter 6

Bhagavad Gita 6.22

यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते नाधिकं ततः। यस्मिन्स्थितो न दुःखेन गुरुणापि विचाल्यते॥

yaṁ labdhvā chāparaṁ lābhaṁ manyate nādhikaṁ tataḥ yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vichālyate

Translation

Which, having obtained, he thinketh there is no greater gain beyond it; wherein, established, he is not shaken even by heavy sorrow;

What it means

Having gained it, one thinks no other gain greater; established in it, one is not moved even by heavy sorrow. The final test is grief-proofness. The best thing is the thing that survives the worst news.

Try this today

The test of the gain: once held, nothing compares and nothing dislodges - not even serious grief.

Something to reflect on

What have I gained that would survive my worst news?
