The Gita · Chapter 6

Bhagavad Gita 6.3

आरुरुक्षोर्मुनेर्योगं कर्म कारणमुच्यते। योगारूढस्य तस्यैव शमः कारणमुच्यते॥

ārurukṣhor muner yogaṁ karma kāraṇam uchyate yogārūḍhasya tasyaiva śhamaḥ kāraṇam uchyate

Translation

For a Sage who is seeking Yoga, action is called the means; for the same Sage, when he is enthroned in yoga, serenity is called the means.

What it means

For the seeker climbing toward yoga, action is the means; for one established in yoga, calm is the means. Different altitudes, different tools. Effort gets you up the mountain; stillness keeps you there.

Try this today

Stage-appropriate practice: beginners climb by doing; the established maintain by stillness.

Something to reflect on

Which stage am I actually in, and am I using its method?
