Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 7

Bhagavad Gita 7.11

बलं बलवतां चाहं कामरागविवर्जितम्। धर्माविरुद्धो भूतेषु कामोऽस्मि भरतर्षभ॥

balaṁ balavatāṁ chāhaṁ kāma-rāga-vivarjitam dharmāviruddho bhūteṣhu kāmo ’smi bharatarṣhabha

Translation

And I the strength of the strong, devoid of desire and passion. In beings I am desire not contrary to duty, O Lord of the Bharatas.

What it means

I am the strength of the strong, free of desire and passion; in beings, I am desire not opposed to dharma. Even desire is not condemned wholesale: aligned with rightness, it is a share of the divine force.

Try this today

A striking inclusion: even desire has a legitimate form - the one aligned with duty. Desire is not the enemy; misdirected desire is.

Something to reflect on

Which of my desires is actually aligned with my duty?
