The Gita · Chapter 7

Bhagavad Gita 7.8

रसोऽहमप्सु कौन्तेय प्रभास्मि शशिसूर्ययोः। प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः खे पौरुषं नृषु॥

raso ’ham apsu kaunteya prabhāsmi śhaśhi-sūryayoḥ praṇavaḥ sarva-vedeṣhu śhabdaḥ khe pauruṣhaṁ nṛiṣhu

Translation

I the sapidity in waters, O son of Kuntî, I the radiance in moon and sun; the Word of Power in all the Vedas, sound in ether, and virility in men;

What it means

I am the taste in waters, the light in moon and sun, the sacred syllable in the Vedas, sound in ether, and the human in humanity. The Divine is identified as the essence inside experiences, not an item among them.

Try this today

The divine as the essential quality inside things: what makes water wet, light bright, effort human.

Something to reflect on

Where did I meet excellence today - taste, light, voice - and did I notice it as essence?
