Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 7

Bhagavad Gita 7.7

मत्तः परतरं नान्यत्किञ्चिदस्ति धनञ्जय। मयि सर्वमिदं प्रोतं सूत्रे मणिगणा इव॥

mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñchid asti dhanañjaya mayi sarvam idaṁ protaṁ sūtre maṇi-gaṇā iva

Translation

There is naught whatsoever higher than I, O Dhananjaya. All this is threaded on Me, as rows of pearls on a string.

What it means

There is nothing higher than I; all this is strung on Me like rows of pearls on a thread. The image is intimate: the universe is not external to its source but threaded through it. Remove the thread and the pearls scatter.

Try this today

The pearl-thread image: infinite variety, one hidden continuity holding it all.

Something to reflect on

What is the thread in my life that, removed, would scatter all the pearls?
